One moment was all it took for my entire life to shatter.

One moment.

I had everything . . . and then, I had nothing.

When all you’re left with are the pieces of your broken heart, there’s nothing you can do, except try to rebuild. So, that’s what I did.

One moment was all it took for me to feel the first flutter of hope I’d had in a long time.

One moment.

He barrelled into my life, covered in tattoos and surrounded by an aura that enraptured me, determined to be the glue that held every broken piece of me together.

I wanted to push him away, because I was scared to lose anyone else I loved.

But, I wanted to hold him close because without him, my life was empty.

REVIEW

“You need to know, I’m not a patient man. When I want something, I don’t sit around and wait for it to come to me. I go after it, and I don’t stop until I have it. I want you, Laura”

I absolutely adore this series and it is through these books, that I first was introduced and fell in love with Kasey Millstead's novels. She has once again given us a book hero and heroine that we can relate too, fall in love with and will be eagerly anticipating every next page. This book is centred upon a more emotional theme and one that, although sometimes hard to read or grasp the emotions that would be shown, is dealt with and presented very well. The way it is presented allows us to empathise and understand more of the actions and feelings of the characters and follow them on their journey towards forgiveness and love, and it is a story that I loved every step of the way.

Tatted Cowboy focuses on Luke and Laura and has fast become one of my favourite of the series, just as I really connected with the characters and although emotional, I felt the story was gripping and beautifully written keeping me ensnared throughout the book. Laura has moved to Pine Creek following a heart breaking tragedy that is everyone’s worst nightmare. She struggles to accept and move on from the guilt and sadness she feels from the accident and wants a fresh start, where no one knows her past or who she is. She never intended to find anyone, but once she met Luke, she knew she was a goner. She put up walls and tried to resist but his perseverance and attitude towards everything slowly breaks through her defences and gives her a new outlook and focus in life. What will happen when her secrets are revealed? Will Luke stand by her when he finds out?

“You’ve got the power to ruin me.”

I loved, loved, LOVED Luke. He was so sweet, caring, and hot and really was one of the good guys. He and every one at Pine Creek are trying to make Laura see that he is the guy for her, and that his shoulders are (literally) big enough to take the burden of any problems and he’s there to fix her. Luke is instantly drawn to Laura and once he has his sights on her, he goes for what he wants. As their relationship grows, Luke wants to understand all of Laura, but just what is she holding back? Can he make her trust in him to tell her secret?

“I’m gonna make you forget how to breathe, how to think, how to function. Your whole world is gonna disappear until the only thing you’re feeling is me. I’m going to consume you.”

I thoroughly enjoyed reading these two’s story as I felt they fit well with the storyline and complimented each other perfectly. It was refreshing to see characters grow with strength and love and come out of the other end with a better outlook on life and truly grow as individuals.

This is one heck of an emotional rollercoaster, but it was worth every second of it. I feel that this series and Kasey’s other books are just continuing to get better. I enjoyed the playfulness and humour of this book mixed in with the more emotional side and this book has one of the most well deserved epilogues I’ve ever read or wanted and it just rounds off the book brilliantly. I cannot wait for more from this author and this series, as she continues to surprise me and keeps me hooked with every page. Bring on the next book!

Excerpt

With pain, comes blame. We blame the ones we love, we blame the one we lost, but most of all, we blame ourselves. It buries itself deep. So deep that on some days it feels like it’s in the marrow of your bones.

It destroys everything. The love you thought you had? Blame will chew it up and spit it out faster than you can blink.

Blame is like cancer; it eats away at all the good. It consumes you and if you are not careful, it will kill you.
